Visiting Museum of Dartmoor Life
I haven't been to Museum of Dartmoor Life yet...
Dartmoor is often described as the last wilderness in southern England, a bleak and remote granite upland which is home to wildlife and little else. In fact, the Dartmoor landscape was created by thousands of years of human activity. The museum tells the story of people on Dartmoor from prehistoric settlement to 20th century mining and hill farming. Extending over three floors, the fascinating collection and interactive displays bring to life the people s story for visitors of all ages. Highlights include a reconstructed Bronze Age hut, Victorian kitchen, blacksmith s shop and farming exhibits. Learn about traditional Dartmoor industries such as glassmaking, quarrying and rural crafts. Young visitors can explore discovery zones and dress up in historical costumes. The museum provides continuous displays and temporary exhibitions, events and guided tours throughout the season.
