Visiting Owl and Falconry Centre
I haven't been to Owl and Falconry Centre yet...
A dazzling collection of some of the world?s most beautiful and elegant birds awaits you, from eagles, hawks and falcons, to kestrels and sleepy owls, the centre is full of fascinating sights and flights. During flying displays the birds of prey soar above the sloping down land of the Appuldurcombe Valley, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty . With a passion for all things feathered and furred, John Owen and his team, opened the centre in 1998. The Centre was set up to provide the public with a rare opportunity to see and enjoy these beautiful birds, and to continue the history of falconry at Appuldurcombe. Henry VIII came to Appuldurcombe in 1538 to pursue the sport of falconry, so we now have a 476 year history (and counting), and some medieval equipment can be seen in the museum, above the shop.
